4.5 out of 5: Hallowed by Cynthia Hand

Hallowed (Unearthly #2) by Cynthia Hand
Summary:
For months Clara Gardner trained to face the fire from her visions, but she wasn't prepared for the choice she had to make that day. And in the aftermath, she discovered that nothing about being part angel is as straightforward as she thought.

Now, torn between her love for Tucker and her complicated feelings about the roles she and Christian seem destined to play in a world that is both dangerous and beautiful, Clara struggles with a shocking revelation: Someone she loves will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

In this compelling sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand captures the joy of first love, the anguish of loss, and the confusion of becoming who you are.

Review:
I didn't think I would be able to finish this book today, but it was so captivating that I just plowed right through it. The start of the book is fairly light-hearted and filled with several jokes. The ending gives closure, so I'm not entirely motivated to buy the next book. (Of course, I'll still finish this series.)

There was not as much Tucker as I thought there would be. It's been about 2 years since I read the first book, Unearthly, I don't remember a whole lot except that: a) I love it and b) I might have been team Tucker... After reading Hallowed, I'm just confused! The interesting things is that this is Clara's senior (last) year in high school, and I wondering how the next book will continue.

The most shocking thing in this book is not what Clara does, but it's what Clara's brother, Jeffrey, had to say. I'm hoping that he will show up again in Boundless (the last book). Lots of secrets are revealed in this book, but the only thing I wished for more is action.

I enjoyed the world Cynthia has created in the Unearthly series. The settings have been described very well, so much that I wish I could visit those mountains.
