5 out of 5: Vixen by Jillian Larkin

Vixen (The Flappers #1) by Jillian Larkin
Summary:
Jazz . . . Booze . . . Boys . . . It’s a dangerous combination.

Every girl wants what she can’t have. Seventeen-year-old Gloria Carmody wants the flapper lifestyle—and the bobbed hair, cigarettes, and music-filled nights that go with it. Now that she’s engaged to Sebastian Grey, scion of one of Chicago’s most powerful families, Gloria’s party days are over before they’ve even begun . . . or are they?

Clara Knowles, Gloria’s goody-two-shoes cousin, has arrived to make sure the high-society wedding comes off without a hitch—but Clara isn’t as lily-white as she appears. Seems she has some dirty little secrets of her own that she’ll do anything to keep hidden. . . .

Lorraine Dyer, Gloria’s social-climbing best friend, is tired of living in Gloria’s shadow. When Lorraine’s envy spills over into desperate spite, no one is safe. And someone’s going to be very sorry. . . .

From debut author Jillian Larkin, VIXEN is the first novel in the sexy, dangerous, and ridiculously romantic new series set in the Roaring Twenties . . . when anything goes.

Review:
Simply because I am the type of person to judge a book by its cover, this wouldn't have been something I would have picked up. But if I had simply ignored this book, I would have missed SO MUCH!

I just absolutely love these types of books. The type of books that take place in a society where people are super classy, and the characters' lives are just so glamorous.

This book takes place in Chicago of 1923. Prohibition, speakeasies, alcohol, the whole mix, makes this book very exciting. The book has a nice pace to it. All the events within the story aren't too crazy, one after another, nor are they slow paced, as if nothing is happening.

The three main characters, Gloria, Lorraine and Clara all have deep dark secrets that keep the plot going,  and make the story so interesting. The many plots are CRAZY!

While reading this, I should have been studying, instead I was caught up in this book, and couldn't put it down. I found that a good chunk of the beginning (maybe the first 100 pages) were a tad slow, but everything started going crazy just a bit after that.

The ending was nearly the death of me! And I cannot wait to read the sequel!
