No one is like Daemon Black.
When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.
But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.
After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.
Together we’re stronger... and they know it.
Review:
Opal was an extraordinary, well paced, third book in the Lux series that pulls on your heart strings.Opal really did exceed expectations. The pace was amazing, it was slow and fast in all the right places. The scenes that made your heart quicken (good and bad) were beautifully written. The characters were all bad ass. The characters went through and are still continuing to go through tough problems, death and life situations. And even though they are mature about it, their still the same characters that we all loved in Obsidian.
The plot was solid. They tried, failed and tried again. (Now if they exceeded, well you have to read to find out) Most series have one book that wasn't needed, one book that was out of place, one book that wasn't as enjoyable as the rest. Opal was not that one book. Opal was aboustly amazing. And to be honest I don't think Jennifer L Armentrout will have that one book.
Jennifer will make you sympathize for someone who committed so many wrongs, and made you understand them on some kinda of level. And truthfully not many authors can accomplish that. Katy makes special bonds with certain people, she understands the others and tries her hardest to keep everyone safe just like Daemon.
Personally before reading Opal, I took sometime to brace myself for a gooey, cheesy, hand holding relationship, one with kisses and sunshine. Sure there were kisses, and handholding and maybe some sunshine, but Katy's and Daemons relationship was not gooey, or cheesy. The sexual tension that was ever present in the first two books was definitely in Opal. Katy would smack, call him names, and Daemon would tease her, add innuendos that may or may not be necessary, and make her melt without trying. Yes there were loving moments, and sweet kisses but they were just as enjoyable as their banter.
Now I know you were all wondering, if there was a cliffhanger, and if it was an intense one.
Here's your answer:
YES A MILLON TIMES YES.
I promise you tears, and smiles, and I promise you that your heart will break. I promise you that the ending will be surprising and scary. That you won't be able to think about it without getting emotional. But that's how Jennifer L Armetrout writes. She makes her readers emotional, and you will be emotional no doubt about it.
If my review didn't want to make you read Opal...than here's a little teaser.
Dawson raised his arm and two DVDs shot into his hand. “Uh, we have Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead.” “Great,” Daemon muttered. I rolled my eyes. “Wussy.” “Whatever.” He elbowed me, knocking a kernel of popcorn between my chest and notebook. I sighed. “Want me to get that for you?” he asked. Shooting him a look, I dug it out and then tossed it in his face. “You’re going to be grateful when the zombie apocalypse occurs and I know what to do because of my zombie fetish.” He looked doubtful. “There are better fetishes out there, Kitten. I could show you a few.” “Uh, no, thank you.” But I did flush. And there were a lot of images that suddenly polluted my brain. “Aren’t you supposed to go to the nearest Costco or something?” Dawson asked, letting the DVDs float back to the coffee table. Daemon turned to his twin slowly, face incredulous. “And how would you know that?” He shrugged. “It’s in the Zombie Survival Guide.” “It is.” I nodded eagerly. “Costco has everything—thick walls, food, and supplies. They even sell guns and ammunition. You could hole up there for years while the zombies are getting their nom nom on.” Daemon’s mouth dropped open. “What?” I grinned.
“Zombies got to eat, too, you know.”
