With the help of a notorious privateer, Alina returns to the country she abandoned, determined to fight the forces gathering against Ravka. Somehow, she will have to choose between her country, her power, and the love she always thought would guide her--or risk losing everything to the oncoming storm.
Review:
Siege and Storm has both a tormentor and a tormented and in the middle of all the chaos, a girl who just wants to fight her way free. The stakes in Siege and Storm are just as high as the ones in Shadow and Bone.
You could see that Mal slowly turns away from Alina, yet the first half of the book was written so well that it felt like someone was tearing your heart out. The connections from the characters to the reader were so strong, I literally could not sleep because I needed to know what would happen to Alina.
The beginning and the endings to Leigh Bardugo's books are my favourite part. I love the way the point-of-views backs away from the character and becomes a very personal third-person narrative. It is a very nice touch to the feeling of the book and leaves the reader feeling peaceful yet, wanting more.
The book is some what slow during the middle, but when you look at the plot as a whole, it could make a very intriguing and epic movie adaptation. And once again, I am looking up the release date for the next book in The Grisha.
