5 out of 5: GODDESS by Josephine Angelini

Goddess (Starcrossed #3) by Josephine Angelini
Summary:
After accidentally unleashing the gods from their captivity on Olympus, Helen must find a way to re-imprison them without starting a devastating war. But the gods are angry, and their thirst for blood already has a body count.

To make matters worse, the Oracle reveals that a diabolical Tyrant is lurking among them, which drives a wedge between the once-solid group of friends. As the gods use the Scions against one another, Lucas’s life hangs in the balance. Still unsure whether she loves him or Orion, Helen is forced to make a terrifying decision, for war is coming to her shores.

In Josephine Angelini’s compelling conclusion to the masterfully woven Starcrossed trilogy, a goddess must rise above it all to change a destiny that’s been written in the stars. With worlds built just as fast as they crumble, love and war collide in an all-out battle that will leave no question unanswered and no heart untouched.

Review:
Each book in the Starcrossed series gets better and better; the stakes were pretty high for Goddess, but Josephine Angelini rises to the challenge. This book has a mixture of everything; there is some history, Greek mythology, romance, comedy, and action. That is what makes this book so memorable.

This book was slightly different from the other books because it included some memories from Helen's previous lives. It is as if there are two plots going on at the same time; sometimes it gets a bit confusing because there are so many different names for the same people, but it compliments the story line. I love the use of the prophecy that "Cassandra" tells. There are a lot more puzzles to piece together.

Now, to get to the good stuff: romance. I love Lucas, but even some of Orion's quotes just melt your heart:
My whole life I've wondered what it feels like to be loved like that. To be loved more [...] But don't I deserve to be someone's first choice for a change.
On top of all that, just like Greek mythology should be, Josephine Angelini plays with dramatic iron... a lot! At one point in the book, Lucas *spoilers* thinks that Helen chose Orion over him, but the reader (I) knew that Helen has a plan. So, I was dying on the inside because Lucas was about to make a foolish trade. *end spoiler* The setting in the book was very well described, and if when you read this book, it's such an important quality to the whole feeling of the book.

There are so many nice quotes, I wish I could have wrote them all down but I got the main ones. ;) Although I loved this series, the ending was wrapped up quiet nicely and there's no need for a run-off series. I hope I get the chance to read more of Josephine Angelini's work.
