5 out of 5: If I Should Die by Amy Plum

If I Should Die (Die for Me #3) by Amy Plum
Summary:
I will not lose another person I love. I will not let history repeat itself.

Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together was shattered. He was betrayed by someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now our enemy is determined to rule over France’s immortals, and willing to wage a war to get what they want.

It shouldn’t be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he’s not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.

After what we’ve already fought to achieve, a life without Vincent is unimaginable. He once swore to avoid dying—to go against his nature and forsake sacrificing himself for others—so that we could be together. How can I not risk everything to bring my love back to me?

Review:
There's something about this book that makes me want to go to Paris even more. Maybe it's because I hope I'll find some crazy adventure like Kate, I'll find a great friend like Jules or even better, my own version of Kate's Vincent.

Everything about this book is so gorgeous; starting with this amazing view on the cover, to the description of one of the most famous cities: Paris. The book picks up right where the last one starts. Although it was hard to remember certain things because it's been a year since I read Until I Die, the plot picks up right away. Once one conflict is solved, another conflict arises, it's like a roller coaster of events!

On top of the major search for a cure to Vincent's body-less problem, there is some underlying drama between Vincent, Kate and Jules. I still love Vincent and Kate together, they've been through so much. But, after reading Amy Plum's short story from Jules's Point of View, I can't stop crying for him. He is that character; the character that deserves to be happy because he is just goodness and also, he's really funny. I recommend reading Jules's short story before reading this book. It causes so much more heart-ache but, it makes the book that much more intriguing. Here's snippet:
I am in love with a girl who’s not mine to love. It is destroying me…ripping me apart. But I can’t tell a soul.
You’d think after a hundred and fourteen years on earth, my heart would know better. But I swear, the whole thing took me by surprise. I didn’t have a clue what was happening.
I honestly didn’t see it at first.
Vincent was always pointing her out when we “accidentally” came across her in our neighborhood. As if he could hide his stalking from me: best friends for half a century. We didn’t know her name by that point, so Ambrose and I called her “The Sad Girl.” But sad was putting it lightly. The girl had obviously suffered some monumental loss.
A few months later Vincent made his move. He talked to her at the cafĂ©. Later, I tried to drag him away at the Picasso Museum, but he thwarted my efforts and spent an hour “getting to know her.” When he brought her to my studio, I was furious.

I think this book had some nice quotes that you wish to hold on to...
I could have had a love like that with Vincent. I had felt it. There had been something right about us: It was bigger than just two people in love. When we were together, it had been like on of nature's true and rare beauties; like an impossible bean of sunlight piercing through black clouds, bathing the patch of earth before you in gold. Together, Vincent and I had created something beautiful.
This was a beautiful series. Trying not to give away spoilers, but it's a great story about girl who finds out the truth about her destiny.
