Summary:
The Garde are finally reunited, but do they have what it takes to win the war against the Mogadorians?John Smith—Number Four—thought that things would change once the Garde found each other. They would stop running. They would fight the Mogadorians. And they would win.
But he was wrong. After facing off with the Mogadorian ruler and almost being annihilated, the Garde know they are drastically unprepared and hopelessly outgunned. Now they’re hiding out in Nine’s Chicago penthouse, trying to figure out their next move.
The six of them are powerful, but they’re not strong enough yet to take on an entire army—even with the return of an old ally. To defeat their enemy, the Garde must master their Legacies and learn to work together as a team. More importantly, they’ll have to discover the truth about the Elders and their plan for the Loric survivors.
And when the Garde receive a sign from Number Five—a crop circle in the shape of a Loric symbol—they know they are so close to being reunited. But could it be a trap? Time is running out, and the only thing they know for certain is that they have to get to Five before it’s too late.
The Garde may have lost battles, but they will not lose this war.
Lorien will rise again.
Review:
The Fall of Five is the perfect present -it has the action that every guy dreams of, and the underlying love story between the kick-ass Lorics.
Whenever, you read the sequel of a book, you can never remember what happened in the second book because of the 1 year pause between the books' release date. However, Pittacus Lore does a great job with filling in the details from the last book, perhaps the book would be a little repetitive if you read the Lorien Legacies all in a row, but when I read this I was so great full for the little hints to what happened in the past books.
Within a short amount of time, you start to warm up to all the "numbers" and you love and fear for the death of the newer additions to the team as much as you would fear for John (Four)'s life. I thought it was so incredibly cute that almost each Loric has a love interest in The Fall of Five. Sadly, this also caused me some insomnia, so here is a tip, if you read this book, set aside 2 days just for reading, or else, you'll probably end up cancelling all your plans just to finish this book.
If I had awards for books, I would give The Fall of Five the 'Best (Worst) Betrayal of 2013'. At a certain point, I was almost crying, then I wanted to stab myself, and lastly, I wanted to stab the person who betrayed the remaining Loric.
In the hard cover version that I read -I'm not sure if this happens in other version of the book- there is a sneak peek to the Lorien Legacies: The Lost Files, and so I'm about to flip to the next chapter and what I see is just the beginning of The Lost Files. I swear it almost feels like HarperTeen teamed up with Pittacus Lore to stun you with the ending. Also, most authors will tell you how many books are in the series, yet as you can see:
there is no plan for the next book! AND I NEED THE NEXT BOOK!
Although the movie was such a dissapointment, it is such a shame that the movie for I am Number Four did not work out because these series deserve so much more credit and it's definitely one of my favourite alien series.
