Summary:
Things are getting desperate for Maya and her friends. Hunted by the powerful St. Clouds and now a rival Cabal as well, they're quickly running out of places to hide. And with the whole world thinking they died in a helicopter crash, it's not like they can just go to the authorities for help.
All they have is the name and number of someone who might be able to give them a few answers. Answers to why they're so valuable, and why their supernatural powers are getting more and more out of control.
But Maya is unprepared for the truths that await her. And now, like it or not, she'll have to face down some demons from her past if she ever hopes to move on with her life. Because Maya can't keep running forever.
Old secrets are revealed and unexpected characters make a surprising return in this stunning conclusion to Kelley Armstrong's New York Times bestselling Darkness Rising trilogy.
Review:
Good plot, funny scenes, and great character variety. A peaceful ending to this wild and addictive series. It is a nice, fast read. I enjoyed this series very much.
I love when I find myself laughing out loud because of something funny character says or does (right before I release I probably look crazy). This book had a few moments like that; I think Kelley Armstrong did a very good job developing her characters. However, for the past two books, I'm a little sad that there wasn't as much Rafe as I'd like. Crazy things are happening in this book, and Maya's feelings are getting mixed into all this chaos so by the middle of the book, I did not know what to feel. I'm slightly disappointed by how Kelley wrapped up the emotional part of the book.
As for the plot, it is very much like a dystopia book, but in the present. The society is so messed, so naturally the only way to fix it is to start with a fresh new leaf. Hence the title The Rising. There are so many names and character connections that after a year without reading this series, the minor characters are forgotten. In this book, names become very important, if you don't know all the names, this adventure becomes very confusing.
Toward the last 20 pages, Kelley started wrapping up the book. It gives the reader in-sight to how the rest of their lives will play out. I thought that was a nice touch and very heart warming.
